Diaphragm metering pumps are devices that accurately measure and deliver liquids, widely used in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing. Proper operation of diaphragm metering pumps not only ensures efficient operation but also extends the equipment's lifespan. The following are detailed operating procedures.

Pre-operation Preparation and Equipment Inspection:

1. Carefully inspect the appearance of the diaphragm metering pump to ensure there are no signs of damage or leakage. Check the pump body and pipe connections for tightness, and check the diaphragm for damage or aging. Replace any abnormalities immediately.

2. Confirm the Medium: Understand the properties of the liquid to be delivered, including corrosiveness, viscosity, and temperature. Ensure the selected diaphragm and sealing material are compatible to avoid damage to the equipment due to media incompatibility.

3. Prepare Tools: Prepare tools that may be needed during operation, such as wrenches and screwdrivers, for adjustment and maintenance as needed.

Start-up Operation and Liquid Injection:

1. Open the pump's inlet valve to introduce liquid into the pump chamber. For self-priming pumps, a small amount of liquid can be added first to help create a vacuum and improve self-priming capability.

2. Flow Adjustment: The flow rate is set according to actual needs by adjusting the pump's stroke length or stroke frequency. Stroke length adjustment is usually achieved by rotating the adjusting screw, while the stroke frequency can be adjusted via a frequency converter or the pump's built-in speed control device.

3. Air Purging: Before starting the pump, air must be purged from the pump chamber to avoid affecting metering accuracy and normal pump operation. The pump's vent valve can be slowly opened; once liquid flows out, the vent valve should be closed.

4. Motor Startup: After confirming everything is ready, connect the power supply and start the motor. Observe the pump's operation and check for abnormal noise, vibration, or leakage. If any problems are found, stop the machine immediately for inspection.

Monitoring During Operation:

1. Check Flow and Pressure: Regularly check the flow meter and pressure gauge to ensure that the flow and pressure are within the set range. If there are deviations, adjust them promptly.

2. Observe Diaphragm Condition: Carefully observe the movement of the diaphragm to ensure smooth movement without jamming. If abnormal diaphragm movement or leakage is found, stop the machine immediately for repair.

Shutdown Procedure

1. Stop the motor: First, close the pump's outlet valve, then disconnect the power supply to stop the motor.

2. Drain the pump chamber: Open the pump's vent valve and drain valve to drain the liquid from the pump chamber, preventing residual liquid from corroding the diaphragm and pump body.

3. Clean the equipment: Wipe the pump body surface with a clean cloth to keep the equipment clean.

Proper operation of a diaphragm metering pump requires strict adherence to the above steps, and maintaining a high degree of responsibility and caution during operation to ensure the safe and stable operation of the equipment.
